The London New Year's Parade

The London New Year's Parade

This year the Mayor of Redbridge chose The Queen's Diamond Jubilee as the theme for his float at the New Year Parade in London on Sunday 1st January. Weeks of preparation culminated on New Year's Eve when Deputy Mayor Councillor Felicity Banks visited the construction workshop in Ilford' Ley Street where Mayor's Committee member Val Smith (see on left of second photograph) sized up the coach in which she would ride in the parade as The Queen. Working to bring the coach to life are Simon Smith and Tony Holton. Meantime, outside, the dancers who would be dressed as horses pulling the coach rehearsed in the rain.
